The Waiting Game

Are you playing the waiting game?

Are you waiting to hear back on that job application, that house offer, the results of that test, the quote that you sent to a potential new client or simply for inspiration about what your next step might be?

I get it. The waiting game can be tough, especially when it feels like there's a lot riding on the outcome or when it feels like you've been waiting a long time.

It struck me on my morning walk today that spiders are incredible at playing the waiting game. I came across three enormous and magnificent spider webs, which I thankfully didn't walk into. Each of them contained a relatively small spider waiting for it's lunch to arrive. These spiders weren't darting around in a panic searching for what they wanted. Neither were they sitting around miserably on a rock doing nothing and then feeling surprised when no lunch appeared.

These spiders did their inspired work - the weaving of their web - and then they waited ready to receive.

We humans often think the work is only in the action we take - submitting the application, taking the test, sending the quote. That action is important, yes. But the work goes deeper than that. There's mindset work to be done, there is lifelong conditioning to be unwound, there are new beliefs to be built. There is the letting go of the old to make space for the new.

Do you believe you are worthy of the abundance you are longing for? Does the view of the world that you grew up with - your beliefs around money, hard work, success - allow you to sit patiently on your web knowing that you will soon feast on the deliciousness of life?

That's the work we need to do when we're playing the waiting game. And every day I support and guide incredible humans like you through this work.
